Q. What is SankalpTaru and how does it work?
A. SankalpTaru Foundation is on a mission to add greenery on earth and in the process help support rural livelihoods and create environmental awareness.
We leverage IT as an enabler. Our online platform provides the convenience to plant trees from anywhere in the world and our unique GPS and social technologies help planters to track their plantation and also build an emotional connect with their trees.
Q. What are the steps involved in planting a tree at SankalpTaru?
A. Please follow these simple steps to plan trees
Step 1: Follow the link www.sankalptaru.org and click on ‘Login and plant now' icon on the homepage
Step 2: Register yourself or use your Facebook credentials to login to Forest Page
Step 3: Enter ECOde and start planting
Q. How can I plant trees? What is an ECOde?
A. To get started with planting trees at SankalpTaru you need to have an ECOde. It is a unique coupon code which lets you plant a tree with SankalpTaru at a location of your choice. We, at Sankalptaru, provide this service to take your support from contributors like you to folks at grassroot level. Hence, you can get an ECOde from:
• Purchasing through online payment gateway module at www.sankalptaru.org
• Purchasing printed ECOde coupons from Timesol service counters available at selected corporate offices (option will be available soon)
Q. I clicked on ‘Login and plant now’ icon available on homepage of www.sankalptaru.org , the next page prompts me to Login? What all login/registration options are available?
A. You can either register with Facebook login or follow simple registration process available on the page. We suggest you to use Facebook login; our social plugin adds more fun to planting activity as you can:
• Share your real trees with friends and even spot trees planted by them
• Like and comment on friend's trees
• Gift real trees to friends
• Post your contribution update and certificate on your wall
Q. How can I select a plantation location?
A. Planters can choose one of the plantation location shown in plantation steps (as soon as you enter ECOde). We select sites wherein there is a pressing need to plant trees and always attach a social theme to the whole program. Our site selection process follows a diligent analysis covering various aspects e.g. environmental impact and social theme study, NGO partner evaluation, tree species selection, survival rate, post plantation care and community participation.
Q. Can I choose a display name? Where all it will appear?
A. Yes, you can choose a display name which will appear on the virtual tree planted on SankalpTaru portal. The same would appear on the tag attached to your real tree.
Q. Can I attach wishes or memories with the planted tree?
A. Yes of course. SankalpTaru gives you an opportunity to tag your emotions with the planted trees. You can choose from a long wish list available in plantation step or define your own wish.
For every wish tree you will see a red thread wrapped or paper tags attached to your virtual tree!
Q. At one of the plantation step, I was prompted to print a certificate. What is it?
A. As soon as you plant a tree at SankalpTaru portal, you are given option to print an e-certificate for yourself. Though the certificate will show the content which you previously selected on ‘Tag my Sapling’ step, however certificate is completely editable and you can customize it as per your wish. As soon as changes are saved, the certificate is emailed to you. The certificate is also posted on your Facebook wall if you select an option to do so.
Tip: if you are gifting a tree to someone, you can customize the certificate accordingly.
Q. I clicked on ‘Return to Forest’ button available on ‘Certificate step’ what happens next?
A. As soon as you click on the button, you are redirected to forest page and you get to see your virtual tree planted with the display name of your choice. Your contribution also goes up by the number of trees that you have planted. You can check your contribution or also see trees exclusively planted by you by clicking on “Go to My Forest” button available on the left hand side panel.
Q. What is a tree profile and how can I check it?
A. Every tree planted in SankalpTaru Forest has a profile. You can check profile of a tree by clicking on the virtual tree shown in the forest page. The tree profile shows information related to date of plantation, your tagged wishes, real tree photograph and geographical location on the map (latter two are only shown if the real tree has been planted, otherwise it shows the placeholder message). If you are using Facebook login then you can also leave a message or comment on the tree profile section
Q. I just planted a tree on SankalpTaru Forest, what happens next?
A. As soon as you plant a tree on the portal, following events take place:
• You receive an e-certificate via email
• Your contribution is posted on your Facebook wall (only if you have used Facebook login)
• A real tree is planted at the location chosen by you and you are confirmed back about the same via an email
• Your tree profile page is updated with planted sapling photograph and location map
Q. I planted a tree few months back with SankalpTaru, could I still spot my tree on the portal?
A. Yes, you can. You just need to use same login credentials and click on “Go to My Forest” button available on the left hand side panel. You would be able to see your exclusive forest with saplings planted by you. You can also spot trees recently planted by your Facebook friends!
Q. I can see a panel on left hand side of the forest page, what information does it carry?
A. The main forest page panel shows:
• Total contribution of SankalpTaru community in terms of total trees planted and Co2 absorption expected from planted trees
• Total contribution of your organization in terms of total trees planted and Co2 absorption expected from planted trees (visible only to employees using a corporate ECOde)
• List of recent planters which shows date and trees planted by them
• Go to My Forest button (redirects to your exclusive forest)
